Event Details

Last year six recipients of the 2011 M&G NSW Fellowships and Mentorships engaged in a two week professional development exchange with reputable institutions in Australia and overseas. M&G NSW invites you to a special presentation on the recipients' experiences including the important insights and professional connections they made while embedded at their host institution.

Shannon Maguire will speak about her observations of the presentation and interpretation of Singaporean social and cultural history at the National Museum of Singapore and the Asian Civilisations Museum, and the impact of this experience has had on her work at the Sydney Jewish Museum.

Julie Petersen from Mosman Art Gallery will discuss how her placement at the National Gallery of Victoria gave her a greater appreciation of the importance of documenting collections and the role of curators in caring, promoting, writing and researching items in their care.

Four other recipients will discuss how their exhanges have provided fresh insight into available opportunities for their museum or gallery.

Come and hear first-hand the benefits of participating in the program. This presentation is a free event and a chance for interested and prospective 2012 Fellowship & Mentorship applicants to find out more about the application process.
